The future is here with new technology in laser skin resurfacing with the MiXto SX®. Combining the effectiveness of Carbon Dioxide lasers long known to be the GOLD STANDARD in wrinkle removal with an innovative “quadrant” fractional technology and a more tightly focused beam, the MiXto SX® laser delivers uniform tissue ablation to the dermis causing immediate contraction and tissue tightening. A secondary effect is the production of new collagen over the next 6-12 weeks. This advanced technology delivers powerful results without the harsh side effects and downtime of traditional CO2 resurfacing.
The MiXto® treatment is giving all the benefits of traditional laser resurfacing, without general anesthesia, pain and prolonged downtime.
The benefits to the Patient are:
- Immediate shrinkage of damaged skin
- Minimal discomfort with topical anesthetic
- Minimal downtime (5 days)
- Softening of fine lines and wrinkles
- Removal of age and sun spots
- New collagen production for up to one year following treatment.
Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Resurfacing?
Ideal candidates for laser resurfacing treatment are patients with healthy elastic skin and realistic expectations. The best candidates are people who are not prone to scarring. Patients with fine lines and facial wrinkles, shallow scars due to acne or chickenpox, and sun-damaged skin are all candidates for laser resurfacing.
Your Laser Resurfacing Consultation
During your consultation, your medical history will be evaluated to avoid complications. Your current medications and supplements must also be fully disclosed. Your goals will be discussed, and the target skin areas will be examined.
A customized treatment plan will be created. Candidates will receive instructions regarding preparation for the treatment, including supplements and medications to avoid. Staying out in the sun for long periods of time will be discouraged prior to the laser resurfacing treatment.
Your Laser Resurfacing Session
In general, laser resurfacing takes 30 to 45 minutes to complete. However, laser resurfacing treatment for the entire facial area will take around two hours. The skin of the face will be cleansed before the treatment. The patient will be wearing goggles to protect the eyes. Anesthesia will be administered depending on the skin area.
Depending on the treatment plan, a handheld device will be passed over the targeted skin, introducing heat energy to break down the epidermal skin cells. This will stimulate the growth of new skin cells, making the skin smoother and reducing wrinkles and fine lines. A bandage will be applied to the treated area.

After Your Laser Resurfacing Treatment
The patient may still feel the aftereffects of anesthesia after the laser resurfacing treatment. It is recommended that the patient arrange for someone to drive them home. Although there will be no lengthy recovery period, specific instructions will be given for treatment aftercare to prevent infection and damage to the treated area.
Dead skin cells will be replaced by new skin cells within 10 days. New skin cells must be cautiously taken care of, including moisturizing and no significant exposure to the sun.
How Much Does Laser Resurfacing Cost?
The overall price of laser resurfacing depends on the cost per session and the number of sessions in the treatment plan.
