Laser treatment for unwanted hair is a non-invasive approach to permanent reduction and long-term hair removal. Treatment is specifically designed to eliminate undesired hair from all parts of the body, safely and effectively. Unlike many other methods of hair removal, laser hair removal leaves your skin looking and feeling smoother and softer. Laser hair removal is performed by a registered nurse.

The Science Behind Laser Hair Removal
Hair goes through a growth cycle, which has four phases: the anagen (growth) phase, the catagen (transition) phase, the telogen (resting) phase, and the exogen (shedding) phase.
When the hair is in its anagen phase, it can be treated using laser hair removal. This process involves using laser energy to lock onto the pigment in the hair shaft. The heat of this energy damages the follicleβs ability to grow new hair. This results in long-term and sometimes even permanent hair reduction.
What Is the Process Like?
At the start of a laser hair removal treatment session, a cooling gel or lotion may be applied to the skin of the area in order to protect it from the laserβs heat. Protective goggles will also be worn.
The laserβs handpiece will then be used to deliver short energy pulses into the treatment areas. The time required to perform laser hair removal varies depending on the size of the treatment region. Smaller areas take minutes, and larger regions may take up to an hour or longer.
Laser Hair Removal Aftercare
After the treatment session, patients can immediately return to their daily schedule. There may be a degree of temporary irritation, which can be addressed using ice packs or recommended creams.
You will need to avoid heavy sun exposure for at least six weeks after treatment. It will also be necessary to wear sunscreen with a proper SPF, since the skin will be especially prone to sun damage.
Treated hair falls away over the course of the month following the treatment session. Multiple treatment sessions will be necessary to ensure that the treated hair is in its anagen phase.
